It teaches that the elect of God will continue in the faith till the end of their life because their faith is a gift from God and Christ is mediating and interceding for them.

This doctrine says that when the Holy Spirit regenerates the heart of the individual that God has foreknown and elected to salvation that individual will without fail come to Christ in faith. The regenerated person will always believe and trust in Christ alone for his salvation because he has been given a new heart with new desires. The regenerated person has been given a new spiritual nature that both desires to and can please God.

This doctrine teaches that the atonement of Christ on the cross was intended for and applied to the elect of God. It means that Christ completely saved certain individuals at the cross. The atonement was particular in its intention and effect but sufficient for all. This doctrine does not teach that Christ’s sacrifice was incapable of saving all people but that it was not intended for all people.

We delve into Scripture and discuss the Biblical attributes of God. The Sovereignty of God must be the foundation to our understanding of Salvation, our understanding of theology must always start with God not man.
What is Calvinism? Calvinism is the term that has taken on the meaning that God is sovereign in salvation. Sometimes it is referred to as Reformed Theology, the Doctrines of Grace, Augustinianism, Wyclifism, Pauline Theology, etc. Throughout the history of the Christian Church one form or another of these doctrines have been taught. There have been slight nuances between the different perspectives but the primary tenets of the doctrines have been consistent. Calvinism is named after the Geneva, Switzerland Reformer John Calvin (1509-1564). This is unfortunate as those who have read Calvin know that were he alive today he would be appose to having these doctrines named after him. He was much too humble of a man to have accepted such an honor. Most of those that impugn the character of Calvin have not read any of what he has written.
